Project Overview: In 2023, I participated in a specialized product design mentorship with the Team Sports unit (who focuses on basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.), while also gaining firsthand exposure to the specialized design teams pipelines for, baseball and golf. During this time, the team was developing a new line of youth merchandise for the Green Bay Packers. I was given the opportunity to pitch a concept for a junior NFL football, utilizing my background as an athlete and sports enthusiast, to design a retail-ready product. Design Strategy & Execution The core objective was to create an immersive, high-energy pattern that captured the localized culture, traditions, and pride that fans associate with their favorite franchises. Having the Green Bay Packers as the focus, I curated a cohesive visual system: Localized Illustrations: Integrated specific, high-sentiment motifs including the silhouette of Wisconsin, "Titletown," the Lombardi Trophy, "NFC North," and the franchise's unique "Fan Owned" status into a dense, dynamic pattern. Typography: Developed a repeating typographic pattern featuring the iconic Lambeau Field chant, "Go Pack Go!", creating a sense of movement and vocal energy. Scalable Templating: I built the layout as a flexible template that could easily swap colors, text, and local landmarks for other franchises. The Result & Retail Rollout: My design was officially selected by the team and optimized for mass-production printing. In 2024, the Green Bay Packers junior football officially hit the shelves at the Lambeau Field Pro Shop. Due to its scalable design framework, the template was subsequently adapted and rolled out series of Junior football for other major NFL teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
