Project Overview: In 2025, I designed the primary logo for North Shore Legacy, an organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the natural vitality of Minnesota’s North Shore, and their families generational history. The client’s vision was to capture a shared reverence for the outdoors, the feeling of escape, and the spiritual beauty of Lake Superior. Design Strategy & Execution: Through a collaborative, iterative design process, we developed an identity that seamlessly captured the region's iconic geography and the family's personal history. Key visual motifs include, the Geographic Anchors: The silhouette of Minnesota establishes a sense of place, while a stylized North Star marks the location of the family property. The Tree Line & Cliffs: A deep forest green tree line represents the lush wilderness of the North Shore, supported by a strong cliffside that pays homage to the famous Palisade Head. Finally, The Flow of Water: A central waterfall flows directly into a larger body of water. This element was a critical piece of the brief, honoring the client’s family memories of the region's waterfalls while symbolically representing how individual family stories flow back into a shared legacy (Lake Superior). The Result: A timeless, deeply personal emblem that balances the depth of nature and legacy with a simple and refined layout, perfectly positioning North Shore Legacy as a steward of both family history and the great outdoors.
