In 2025, I designed the primary identity for Tettegouche Gateway, a premium cabin rental located near Tettegouche State Park on Minnesota's North Shore. Rooted in the historic meaning of Tettegouche as a "gathering place," the property was envisioned as a sanctuary where families and friends could disconnect, immerse themselves in nature, and reconnect with one another. The visual identity needed to bridge the gap between the rugged wilderness of the North Shore and the warm, elevated luxury of the newly renovated property. Design Strategy & Execution: Through close collaboration with the client, we developed a brand mark that honors the specific physical landmarks of the property while reflecting its upscale, welcoming atmosphere. Key visual motifs include, The Sentinel White Pine: A towering, asymmetrical white pine, inspired by the grand tree that greets guests upon arrival, serves as the primary focal point, symbolizing natural strength and timelessness of the North Shore. The Timber Archway: Inspired by the custom wood beam gateway in the property's backyard, this element framing the design symbolizes transition. It marks the threshold where the maintained property meets the wilderness path leading to High Falls on the Baptism River. The Result: The final logo balances sophistication and rustic charm. By marrying strong shapes with meaningful local landmarks, the identity positions Tettegouche Gateway not just as a place to stay, but as an unforgettable wilderness experience.
