Project Overview: In 2024, I was commissioned to design the official logo and emblem for the Clinical Affective Science Lab (CASL), a psychological research laboratory. Working directly with the Lab Director, the objective was to create a minimalist identity that bridges the gap between complex neuroscience and human emotion. Design Strategy & Execution: The final design features an abstract and elegant continuous line illustration that seamlessly integrates three distinct conceptual layers into a single cohesive mark: The Brain & Stem: Represents the core scientific focus of the lab's psychological research. The Human Touch: The brain stem is stylized as a hand, symbolizing the deeply human element of clinical science. The Acronym Motif (The Castle): The continuous line of the castle along with the structural grooves within the brain's cortex creates a clever and sophisticated nod to the lab's acronym, CASL. The Result: The outcome is a highly versatile emblem that balances scientific authority with artistic minimalism. Designed with adaptability in mind, the mark scales seamlessly across digital platforms, academic presentations, official stationery, and lab merchandise, giving CASL a distinct and professional identity within the scientific community.
